Dear Moms- I wanted to pass along my experience at Mandarin Park today as more and more of us are out with the kids during the summer. There was a man (early 20's) at the park that just didn't seem to fit in with the moms/grandparents and kids that were there today. Long story short.. he ended up grabbing one of the moms by knifepoint (she was there with 3 other moms and about 10 kids)- pushed her to her car and tried to get her to get in the car with him. Luckily everyone was screaming so much he ended up pushing the woman aside and just took her car. I had already been on the phone with 911 as we heard the screams of the group earlier (before he got to the car) was able to get the license tag and the cops caught him on Flynn Road so he didn't get very far. The What Ifs- are swirling around in my head right now- but luckily a bad situation ended up ok- no one was hurt (car wrecked) but the guy was caught and will be going away for a long time. It is scary that this is happening in our back yard- just a reminder to be aware and keep the little ones close.

Have a great and safe summer.
